IV Sedation

Sedation Dentistry

While going to the dentist can cause fear and anxiety, it’s important not to let that fear prevent you from undergoing dental procedures that are necessary for good dental health and oral hygiene. Anxiety can stem from the expectation of pain while undergoing procedures, as well as patient embarrassment about the condition of their teeth. No matter what the reason might be for the anxiety, delaying your procedure will only exacerbate the symptoms. However, with sedation dentistry from Integrated Dental Health, you can feel complete relaxation during your visit.

IV Sedation Dentistry

If you experience anxiety and apprehension about getting into the dentist’s chair, you might want to consider conscious sedation as a means of experiencing relaxation while remaining awake and aware of your surroundings. We practise IV sedation dentistry as our preferred method of conscious sedation. The sedative is administered intravenously at a much lower dosage than general anaesthetic to avoid loss of consciousness.

Other Forms of Sedation

In addition to IV sedation dentistry, patients can have the option of oral sedation dentistry. This option sees the dentist provide an oral sedative. Once again, the patient remains conscious and aware of their environment while feeling relaxed as dental staff complete the procedure.

We operate and perform sedation dentistry in strict accordance with the guidelines from Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists and the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons.  We are accredited by the Dental Board of Australia / AHPRA and equipped with modern monitoring and resuscitation equipment for every patient.
